TUFTED YOUNG

Note the feathers above the bill are turned front-wards on the bird on the
left, this is the "tufted" youngster. Normal feathering is on juvenile on
the right. This "mutant" is co-dominate. Breeding two
"tufted" birds do not always produce all tufted young (as the parents
of these two are). Only a single tufted bird is needed to reproduce the
"tuft" on young. More genetic research is needed on this mutant. Check out Dr
Miller's web site for more information on this mutation.

White Tufted Ringneck - note the "tuft" of emerging feathers
pointing towards the bill. It is said the White Tufted is very beautiful.
