Yellow-eyed Senegal Iris Dimorphism
Males & Females
(John Pire)

These pictures show the "yellow" coloration of the iris of this unique mutation discovered in 2000 within a group of 3 birds. It has been proven the "yellow eye" is dominate over the normal colored eye of the Senegal

The picture on the left is of the original male Senegal. The picture on the right shows F1 offspring - also having the yellow eye. The females (2 birds on top) have a slightly more darker tint then the males (2 birds on bottom) iris color.

Original male "yellow eye"                         F1 males (B) & females (T)

I sent 4 birds to a friend in 2002, he sent the picture of the group of F1 eyes. I could never get such clear pictures to show this coloration difference of the iris. Thanks Jeff D. for the picture.
