Blond & White Ringnecks
C.O. Whitman & other dove fanciers around the world in the late 1700's, 1800's & early 1900's considered these two birds as individual species or races. This was due to the different colors of the two birds. One was a light brown & had a black neck ring; the other was white & no black neck ring. Many years elapsed before it was determined that these two birds were the same specie & actually just different color phases. These two colors, Blond (Fawn) and White, were the only known colors in Ringneck Doves in the United States until the 1950's.
