Pink-bellied Imperial Pigeon
Ducula poliocephala
Range and population
Ducula poliocephala is endemic to the Philippines where it occurs on at least
15 islands (Basilan, Biliran, Catanduanes, Cebu, Dinagat, Leyte, Luzon, Masbate,
Mindanao, Mindoro, Negros, Panay, Samar, Sibuyan and Tawitawi) but is uncommon,
local, perhaps semi-nomadic and certainly declining owing to the combination of
heavy hunting and the extensive clearance of its preferred (though not
exclusive, as the bird ranges up to 1,500 m) lowland forest habitat.
