Norfolk Island Ground Dove
Gallicolumba norfolciensis

Range and population
Gallicolumba norfolciensis, from Norfolk Island (to Australia ), was painted by Hunter in 17902 and described by Latham in 1801 based on this and on correspondence from 1788-17901. Subfossil remains have subsequently been found and referred to this species1. It presumably became extinct in about 1800, due to overhunting and predation by introduced cats and rats1
