Jambu Fruit Dove
Ptilinopus jambu

Range and population
Ptilinopus jambu is confined to the Sundaic lowlands, from peninsular Thailand , Sabah , Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia , Singapore (scarce and irregular non-breeding visitor), Kalimantan , Sumatra and West Java, Indonesia and Brunei . It inhabits mangrove and evergreen forests to 1,500m. Forest destruction in the Sundaic lowlands of Indonesia has been so extensive that all primary formations are expected to disappear by 2010, and the situation is little different in Malaysia . However, the species's ability to persist in second growth and at higher elevations, where forest destruction has been less severe, means that its decline has been less rapid than for lowland primary forest specialists.
